Maui, Hawaii, is a beautiful place to visit, but it can also break the bank. Thankfully, points and miles can help make your stay more affordable while still letting you enjoy some beautiful hotels. In this post, we’ll cover three oceanfront Marriott properties in Maui. And remember, when you book a Marriott stay on points, the 5th night is free!
Sheraton Maui Resort and Spa
This resort is located on Ka’anapali Beach near Whalers Village. It’s right at Black Rock, which is known as one of the best snorkeling spots in Maui. When booking on points, this property ranges from 56,000 to 112,000 points per night, making it one of the more affordable beachfront Marriott resorts.
This resort is an excellent choice for families. Black Rock Cove is a great snorkeling spot, and the resort amenities are also a big draw. There are stunning pools with a lazy river, lava rock waterways, and waterfalls for the whole family to enjoy. The resort is filled with activities such as the cliff dive ritual, sunset s’mores, coconut leaf weaving, koi fish feeding, lei making, painting classes, and so much more.

The Westin Resort and Spa Ka’anapali
Located in the heart of Ka’anapali Beach and close to Whalers Village, this resort is great for families or an adults’ getaway. It is also close to the Sheraton Maui Resort and Spa if you want to snorkel at Black Rock. This property ranges from 64,400 to 122,500 points per night, making it more expensive if you are visiting during peak times.
This resort has six pools, including a splash zone and a 270-foot waterslide. It also features an adults-only infinity pool and hot tub. Like the Sheraton, the resort is filled with activities such as the Wailele Luau, an outrigger canoe experience, the Keiki Hula and Polynesian show, and so much more.

Wailea Beach Resort
This luxurious beachfront resort is located in Wailea on the south side of Maui. While you aren’t close to Whalers Village for shopping and dining, Wailea has its own great shopping options. The resort sits between Ulua Beach and Wailea Beach, giving you lots of options for swimming, snorkeling, or boogie boarding depending on the weather. This property is typically pricey, ranging from 78,800 to 121,000 points per night.
This resort also caters to both families and adults looking for a getaway. There is an adults-only infinity pool with incredible views. For families with children, there are three other pools to enjoy. One of the pools features a splash zone and four waterslides, making it fun for everyone. The resort also offers a variety of Hawaiian traditions and activities, such as hula lessons, poi pounding, ukulele lessons, the Te Au Moana Luau, and so much more.

Other Marriott’s in Wailea
If you want to stay in Wailea but feel the Wailea Beach Resort is too expensive, there is also an AC Hotel by Marriott and a Residence Inn. While these hotels aren’t oceanfront, they are still close to the ocean and in a great location. These options could let you stay in Wailea for significantly fewer points.
When picking a hotel in Maui, you really can’t go wrong. The island is beautiful and full of unforgettable experiences!
Ka’anapali vs Wailea
If you’re like me, you might feel a little torn about where to stay because Ka’anapali and Wailea both offer beautiful resorts and totally different vibes. Maybe you want to hotel hop and spend a few nights in each area, or maybe you’re trying to decide which side of Maui fits your travel style best. Let’s go through what each area has to offer.
Ka’anapali is on the west side of Maui and features three miles of golden sand. If you love long beach walks, this area is for you. The vibe in Ka’anapali is more energetic and lively, with lots of shopping, places to eat, and activities nearby. It’s a great location for families or anyone who likes to stay busy and have plenty of options within walking distance.
Wailea is on the south side of Maui, and the beaches here are more crescent-shaped rather than one long stretch of sand. Beaches like Wailea, Ulua, and Polo are separated by lava rock, giving the area a more tucked-away and scenic feel. Wailea is known for its luxury resorts, golf courses, and upscale shops. While it definitely appeals to honeymooners and couples, the resorts also do a great job of catering to families.
